RWCA is a Turkish and Kurdish community group it is based on a community of refugees from the Turkish military coup in 1981. RWCA do a lot of community and cultural work, lots of music, dances, political education and emphasis on youth and women’s organising and political activity.
Take Back The City attended their annual picnic, this year in Cherry Hinton Hall Park in Cambridge and had the opportunity to carry out an all woman workshop with 30 participants
Take Back The City on the same day attended the End of Exams BBQ of the Kurdish Youth group based at the Kurdish Community Centre in Haringey. The Kurdish Community Centre is the base of the Kurdish refugee community from Turkey who fled for political reasons during the independance war of the PKK [Kurdistan Workers Party] in the 1980s and 1990s.
13 young people took part in a lively workshop.
